Trentham District Primary School is actively involved in the Better Buddies Program, an initiative of The Alannah and Madeline Foundation.
Our program ensures our school environment nurtures and supports students entering their first year of primary school. Our priority is to ensure students feel safe, valued and connected to the school community.
The school pairs new primary school students with an older buddy. To ensure students’ sense of belonging is maintained through school life, students meet as a whole school group on a weekly basis. Weekly awards are presented to students demonstrating behaviours that support our safe and positive school environment.
The Better Buddies Framework is a curriculum resource for primary schools, designed to enhance or introduce buddy systems in schools. It is easy to implement and allows teachers to tailor Better Buddies to suit their school, train students to be buddies and source ideas for buddy activities.
Better Buddies helps our school to create a value based, friendly and caring environment.
Trentham District Primary School is also an e-Smart School. e-Smart supports the development of children to embrace the benefits of technology and reduce their exposure to cyber-risks. This is a whole of school program integrated into the Information and Computer technology teaching and learning program.
